After fat grafting, you can expect some bruising and swelling in the treated areas for up to 2 weeks. During this healing time you may want to take some time off work to recover. Return to normal activities once the discomfort has gone.
Some common side effects after a surgical fat transfer are bruising, swelling, and numbness. These side effects should all be temporary. You will have small scars in the suction area which are permanent but will fade over time.
Your body may reabsorb some of the injected fat in the months following the procedure. Therefore, the full and final effect of the fat grafting may take several months. Sometimes further fat grafting might be necessary.
