The risks of fat grafting are low. However, as with any surgery, there is always a risk of post-operative infection, bleeding, and swelling.
While this is not normally a risky procedure, there are some risks of fat grafting, for example:
- Fat embolism (a blockage in a blood vessel);
- Obvious scarring;
- Haematoma (bleeding beneath the skin); and
- Fat necrosis (the death of fat tissue).
There is also a chance that after this procedure, you may be unsatisfied with the final result, and may need further treatment.
Risks and complications will be discussed in detail during a consultation.
