NECK LIPOSUCTION

To plan for neck liposuction make an appointment to discuss your goals and investigate whether you are a good candidate or not.

If you are, we will discuss your goals to ensure that you have a good understanding of what can be achieved and what your realistic expectations should be.

To prepare for neck liposuction, you may be asked to stop smoking for 2 – 4 weeks prior to the procedure. Nicotine retards the healing process, and quitting for as long as possible before surgery helps improve blood flow.

You might also have to have a blood test before surgery is performed.

During the consultation be sure to disclose what medication, vitamins, and supplements you are taking. I may need to adjust this leading up to surgery. You should avoid certain medications like aspirin and some anti-inflammatory drugs. You may also need to stop taking some vitamins and supplements. Avoid any recreational drugs.

Be sure to arrange for transport to and from the clinic. You will not be able to drive yourself after the procedure.

After neck liposuction, expect some swelling and bruising but not much discomfort. You can expect immediate results which will become more visible as the swelling subsides. Your neck area will appear more youthful with improved contouring and definition.

Recovery should only take a few days with not much pain.

You should be able to return to work within a week at most but avoid strenuous activities including heavy housework and exercise for at least 2 – 3 weeks.

The risks of neck liposuction are minimal. This surgery is considered a minimally invasive procedure so the risks are low. Light swelling and bruising is normal and temporary.

Risks that are specific to neck liposuction can include scarring, infection, change in skin sensation, fluid accumulation and irregular contours or asymmetry. There can also be dimpling or nerve damage.
