What is the procedure for otoplasty?

The procedure for otoplasty is performed under either local or general anaesthetic.

I will make an incision at the back of the ear and expose the cartilage. The cartilage will be reshaped and stitched into position. This will leave a faint scar behind the ear that will fade in time.

The internal stitches used are usually permanent to keep the cartilage in place.
